Funeral companies are aplenty and the number is still growing. The reason could be attributed to (1) low barriers to entry into this industry and (2) deceivingly portrait of profits achievable for a funeral company.

Delve deeper and you will notice that many of these companies do not have a shopfront and operate behind a computer screen. The death industry has become somewhat similar to the interior design trade where anyone who deem they can be a funeral director enters and try to source for business by having a website or online presence. Such entities however do not have physical assets like warehouses to store coffins or embalming rooms to prepare corpses. They might not even have full timer workers! They are free to price their funeral packages any way they want it to be, sometimes they quote a much lower price just to secure a family but I cannot comment much on the quality of services they are able to provide when much of what they claim to provide comes from a third party. Also, do note that most of them are new companies who do not even have the knowledge or competence needed to actually handle an entire funeral from the start till the end - which can be pretty scary for me but I wouldn’t say the same for you. To each his own.
