Funeral Industry Jobs

Recently there has been a post on a forum that mothership reported on that talks about someone being offered a job in the funeral industry. This person mentioned that the salary offered was $8,000, even for someone with zero experience.

I do not know where the source of this information came from but I would confidently debunk this based on my years of experience in this industry. I have been in this industry for more than half a decade and the basic pay for newcomers have not changed much in the past years. I do not see this status quo experiencing a drastic change in the near future.
I am just trying to put things into perspective for people here. For someone like myself who had a bachelor’s degree, my starting pay in the corporate world was only about three thousand.

Understandably, people in the death trade may get paid a slight premium for their guts to deal with death and corpses but the premium would not be 100 percent that of the basic pay for fresh degree graduates. That just would not make any sense. I am just trying to shed some light for people out there who have a genuine interest in this industry. I do not want this misinformation to be guiding people to make wong decisions that can throw them off their life’s trajectory.
The starting basic pay for this industry is usually near $2,000. Some companies have a lower basic pay and a more attractive incentive scheme while some have a higher basic pay with little to no incentive. How the compensation scheme is structured depends on the how the company’s internal structure is.

Majority of the people in this trade do not possess a high level of formal education and such a pay with the incentives are attractive enough to sustain them. For those with a degree, they might be tempted to go for better-paying jobs which are less laborious.
