These vehicles are termed as "hearses" and the name for these vehicles originated from the Middle Ages, where it was referred to a frame used to support candles and cover the decedent during the funeral service. Overtime, this term has come to mean the vehicle used to transport the deceased.

Hearses used to be simple carts or even horse-drawn carriages. With the advent of motor vehicles, hearses evolved as well with the times. In modern day hearses, at least one bereaved family member would sit in the vehicle to accompany the deceased on his or her final journey to either the crematorium or burial ground.

In planning for a funeral, it is important to be practical so as not to overspend as well.

The normal van hearses are usually included in most funeral packages and are good enough. The European Limousine Hearses are usually rented at about $600 per ride. If you think the $600 could be better spent elsewhere for the funeral like the coffin or funeral wake set up, then maybe the economical option for the funeral hearse might be sufficient.

Can Any Vehicle Be A Funeral Hearse?

As long as the vehicle is long and wide enough to accommodate a normal-sized coffin, it can generally be modified to be a funeral hearse in Singapore. Do take note that these vehicles do not come cheap though!
