A new Catholic church – Church of the Holy Cross has allowed their premise to be used as a funeral wake location and this spells great news for Catholics staying in the West! This short article tells us of the advantages and disadvantages of holding a wake venue at this new location.

The designated area to be used for holding funeral wakes at this church is at the basement and you’d have to drive through the carpark before arriving at this area.

Named St Joseph Hall, the wake holding room is a small separate room from the main church building with two doors and windows (good for claustrophobic people like myself).

Advantages:

• Good for those living in the West
• This premise is entirely separate from anything else and hence it is a space with lots of privacy
• Parking is free and partially sheltered
• Room is fully air-conditioned and the air conditioner is really powerful
• Price is highly affordable at $600/day
• Toilet is nearby
• Wake room comes with a TV monitor that allows multiple forms of media to be displayed via a VGA/HDMI connector

Disadvantages:

• Decedent has to be a Catholic to use the wake room
• Room is relatively small (one of the smallest compared to all other churches)
• No mrt nearby

All in all, for the price of $600/day, the Saint Joseph hall would make a great choice when it comes to holding funeral wakes for those living in the West. This is especially so during the COVID-19 period where the number of wake visitors at any one point of time is subjected to strict limitations anyway.
