If you are an employer or head of Human Resources of a company and you just lost an employee, you might not know how to deal with it especially if it is your first encounter.

Firstly, engage a Funeral Director who can help you with either the:

1) cremation process locally and have the ashes exported back to their home country; or
2) entire repatriation of the decedent back to their home country.

Feel free to call up a few funeral companies to see which suits you best. You should find a Funeral Director whom you can trust and work with as there would be quite a bit of liaising for the entire repatriation duration period.

After the funeral process is completed, as a company employer or Human Resources staff, you might be tasked to handle the needed paperwork.

Some things to consider:
- Submission of death certificate to the relevant embassy (Harmony Funeral Care would take care of that for you except for those exporting to Malaysia)
- Cancellation of work permit
- Insurance claims (WICA, private insurance, medical insurance, etc)
- Check if the worker has any other belongings to be sent back to his or her homeland

- death certificate
- original invoice from the funeral company
- work permit photocopy
