Singapore Exhumation Services
Exhumation is the act of digging something buried, usually a corpse. The demand for exhumation services in Singapore is rising in part due to the revised law where burial grounds are only valid for 15 years. When the burial period of 15 years is met, the government usually alert family members of the need for the graves to be exhumed via the newspapers. An online registration can be made through the NEA website to make a claim for the deceased's remains.
Exhumation can be done by the Land Transport Authority in Singapore. LTA will inform family members the exhumation date (chosen by LTA) and the dug up remains would be cremated on the very same day at Mandai Crematorium. The following items would be provided by LTA at no added cost:
- Cremation fee
- Simple urn to house the cremains
- Niche at Mandai Columbarium (Assigned allocation)
- Simple marble plaque (with deceased's name and date of death) to be installed at the niche
Family members may prefer to have a monk or priest to officiate the exhumation process. This can be arranged by us. The old tombstone would usually be removed and then destroyed. However, family members who want to keep the tombstone may do so as well. To have the exhumation process done at your own convenient time, do engage a private contractor like us to help you. We will tell you all that you need to know about the exhumation process. Call us now to find out more about the pricing.
